Brickz

If you look the word hustler up in the dictionary the definition you will see will see will describe Brickz; this artist is from NJ. He has been hustling for most of his life but has found a new love, “hip hop music”. BRICKZ has just put the finishing touches on his latest street album “Addicted 2 My Reality”; the first single “24/7” off the album sums up being a hustler. The song paints a vivid picture of what he wants, and what measures he will take to get it.
BRICKZ a.k.a Dawud King, Born and raised in Newark, (Brick City) N.J. has been a fan of hip hop since his adolescent life. Growing up in the tough streets of Newark, surviving in a family and neighborhood full of addicts and dealer’s gave hip hop a heavy role as far as guidance in his life. Living under those conditions taught him the meaning of survival. Over time as he began to create his own music, he began to shed his own light and give a voice to those who do not have the ability to express themselves in that manner.
Being a versatile emcee has allowed him to connect with any audience; he always strives to deliver good music to the people. Music has always been a major importance in his life. From the first time he listened and saw the video to LL Cool J “I’m Bad” he knew the depth of his passion for music: stemmed from his emotions, struggles, and good times through out his life.
In the year 2006, Brickz released his debut street album “From Da Gutta 2 Da Game” which granted him a strong local fan base. The album was fueled by the street hustler anthem “You Already Know”, which gave a glimpse of Brickz grind mentality. After establishing himself as a strong upcoming artist coming into the game, he dropped his second single “OK Background”, where he touched on his personal upbringing by family and the streets. Other notable songs “Outside” and “Missing U”, which were more inspirational songs that painted a clear picture of life in the urban community.
Since then he has done collabs and contributed to other artist albums. Brickz is also a member of “BRB” a group of individual rappers who’s purpose is to bring good music to the music industry. “BRB” stands for the names of the members (Brickz, Reeves, Brown), all of whom have known each other over the years.
For Brickz, life has dealt him a difficult hand, but this artist only see’s the unmeasurable odds as challenges and life experiences that will motivate him on his journey. His stage name says it all, Brickz, truly defines the strength and hardships of his city; the fight that goes on everyday to achieve success and rise above the ignorance that plagues his ghetto surroundings is everlasting.
